El Aprendizaje de Vocabulario en Educación Secundaria

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to draw attention to the importance of vocabulary learning in compulsory secondary education. The study was conducted with a 4th year group that participates in the Bilingual Education Program in Cantabria and has problems in the three subjects taught in English. To carry out this study a qualitative method is used to analyse the learning strategies employed by the group as well as a quantitative method to examine the learning styles present in the group. To this end, gender differences and the students’ level of interest were contrasted with the results obtained by the students in the research. The results demonstrate that the students employ a limited range of learning strategies and reveal the great benefits to be derived from attending to the needs of students with different learning styles.
