Abstract

Los anfibios constituyen un grupo de vertebrados con una diversidad total de 376 especies lo cual posicionaa México como el quinto país en riqueza de anfibios. México cuenta con un total de 16 familias con representantes delos 3 órdenes. Las salamandras de la familia Plethodontidae con 117 especies son la familia más diversa de anfibiosseguida por la familia Hylidae con 96. En general, el nivel de endemismo es muy alto, ya que 7 de las 16 familiaspresentes en México, contienen más de un 50% de especies endémicas para el país, incluyendo 6 géneros (3 de anurosy 4 de salamandras) que también son endémicos de México. La distribución de anfibios por estado denota una marcadadiferencia entre los estados de Oaxaca, Chiapas y Veracruz con el resto de México. El estado de Oaxaca es el másdiverso con un total de 140 especies, los estados de Chiapas (100 especies) y Veracruz (96 especies) ocupan el segundoy tercer lugar, respectivamente. Actualmente los anfibios están sufriendo la peor crisis de extinción de toda su historia;se considera que el 43% de las especies están amenazadas o críticamente amenazadas para el caso de México.
