Patterns in graphs is the theme for April's IDEAS. Counting is the only skill prerequisite to learning to name points on a grid; all that's needed for each point is a pa ir of numbers. The French mathematician, Rene Descartes, invented the coordinate graphing system in the 17th century and provided a way to link geometric figures to algebra ic equations. Children at all levels can have some experience with this important idea of ma thematics, and graphing activities reinforce concepts of number.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 1 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
