Abstract

Après avoir présenté les conceptions antiques de l’órexis, on soulève quelques questions sur la nature de la « correction non intellectuelle », tout en examinant les réponses offertes par Brentano et ses héritiers, ainsi que celles que propose la philo¬sophie contemporaine des valeurs et de l’esprit. On propose de comprendre la conception brentanienne des valeurs en termes d’orthonomie : x a une valeur si une émotion ou un désir positifs de x est correct (et cette émotion ou ce désir sont connaissables). Mais certains textes de Brentano décrivent aussi la correction en termes relationnels (une relation entre un acte mental et une forme déontique), ce qui va dans le sens des théories contemporaines du buck-passing et de la fitting attitude. Brentano penche ainsi souvent pour une conception non relationnelle de la correction, mais opte aussi parfois pour une conception relationnelle.
