The aim of this study is to determine the qualities of effective school and effective school principal according to the perceptions of teachers. The study was conducted in the city of Usak with 105 teachers in the academic year of 2009-2010. The data were collected through two open-ended questions designed by the researcher. The data were analysed through descriptive analysis technique. The findings based on the perceptions of teachers on effective school qualities were organized around four themes (school-environment relationship, school climate, school-parent relationship and teacher-parent relationship). Besides, the perceptions of teachers on effective school principal qualities revealed two themes as leadership qualities and task-responsibility.
