This is a study of social influences outside the classroom which shape the development of interest, activity, and knowledge in art and music in a college setting. It is an inquiry into the social-psychological and organizational variables which condition the scholastic and intellectual development of students in higher education and into the implications of such findings for educational policy and administration.
