Este artículo realiza 1) un inventario de estas escalas de evaluación y 2) clasifica la función de las mismas. Basado en una revisión inicial de la bibliografía sobre el tema, se ha compilado once tablas de evaluación del riesgo, vitalidad y procesos de revitalización lingüística. Luego del análisis de la función de las mismas se propone la siguiente tipología de escalas de evaluación: a) del riesgo-vitalidad de las lenguas, b) de factores para mantener y promover las lenguas y c) de planificación de procesos de revitalización. Si bien estas escalas son herramientas útiles para promover y evaluar procesos de revitalización lingüística, es importante valorar su pertinencia para la lengua específica cuyo riesgo-vitalidad se pretende identificar. Este estudio pone en evidencia la necesidad de una apropiación crítica de estos instrumentos para la evaluación y promoción de procesos de revitalización lingüística en Bolivia y la región.
