This announcement highlights the life and work of three Heptanesians composers who lived and worked in the U.S. during the first half of the 20th century. A) Corfiot Lorenzos Camilieris (1877-1956), composer, conductor, and choirmaster in New York established the famous choir “People's Chorus”. B) The Corfiot Spyros Becatoros (1862-1938), composer, conductor, and music teacher, settled in Chicago and in New York, where for thirty years he served on the Greek-American orchestras. C) The Cefalonian IoannisVergotis (1875 - ;) composer, librettist, and conductor, founded in New York a successful Greek-American operatic troupe.
