In this study, a DANP approach to multi-criteria decision making is applied using the DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory Model) technique, which is integrated into the ANP (Analytic Network Process) to know the links between the factors influencing the understanding of French university courses of Chinese students and thus to find the order of importance and weighting of the predominant factors and criteria associates. This is the first time that this DANP approach has been integrated into the teaching of the French Foreign Language (FLE). Thus, it can be seen that teacher strongly influence the other two factors; this result stands out from the other studies carried out on the subject.
