Craterocephalus stramineus (Whitley) Strawman, Blackmast The distribution of Craterocephalus stramineus is confined to the Gregory River of Queensland, the Katherine, Finniss, Daly, and Victoria Rivers of the Northern Territory, and the Ord River in the Kimberley region (Fig. 17) (Allen et al. 2002). However, the outlying record of the species from the upper Fitzroy River in Allen and Leggett (1990) is actually from the Ord catchment; an incorrect co-ordinate is given in the paper that did not correspond to site location. This also applies for other species captured at the site including N. erebi, M. australis, A. percoides, L. unicolor and G. giuris (see Figs. 4, 18, 27, 32 and 40). Therefore, we consider the Kimberley distribution as being confined to the Ord River, where it is widespread and abundant.
