Anethum graveolens Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 263. 1753. "Habitat inter Lusitaniae & Hispaniae segetes." RCN: 2098. Lectotype (Jansen, Spices, Condiments Med. Pl. Ethiopia: 34. 1981): Herb. Linn. No. 371.1 (LINN). Generitype of Anethum Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 141. 1929). Current name: Anethum graveolens L. (Apiaceae). Note: Although Tardieu-Blot (in Aubréville, Fl. Cambodge Laos Vietnam 5: 29. 1967) stated "TYPE: herb. Linné, Hort. Ups. 66", no herbarium is explicitly indicated, and a sheet in LINN shows no link with the Hortus Upsaliensis. Consequently, this statement is not accepted as a valid typification, and Jansen is accepted as the typifier.
