This paper arises from a group discussion took place at the 2018 Livecoding Moot in Sheffield about the role of visualists in algoraves, with the particular aim of improving collaboration and giving visualists a more equal status both conceptually and practically. The current situation is one of imbalance, in which visualists are often relegated to a secondary role. Some suggestions for improving the situation are examined, including challenging certain social practices, and employing technical approaches aimed at fostering a more balanced collaboration.
