Empowering students to be citizens committed to preserve local cultural diversity is of fundamental importance for building more tolerant, inclusive and sustainable societies. The learning paths of teachers and their students in the context of pedagogical training can contribute towards this purpose. In this context, an educational intervention was structured which consisted of a set of activities focused on the promotion of curricular learning linked to the appreciation and preservation of the local heritage by a group of students attending a basic education curriculum. This analysis allows us to become aware of the need to give value to this cultural identity and its preservation, as well as the acceptance and valorization of difference. We draw attention to the contribution to the role that the pedagogical training of future teachers, regarding the (re)thinking of the didactic strategies, can have in the schooling educational process when the social contexts are multicultural. Capacitar os alunos para serem cidadãos comprometidos com a preservação da diversidade cultural local é de fundamental relevância para a construção de sociedades mais tolerantes, inclusivas e sustentáveis. Os percursos de aprendizagem de professores e seus alunos, em contexto de formação pedagógica, poderão ter um contributo nesse desígnio. Neste contexto, estruturou-se uma intervenção educativa constituída por um conjunto de atividades enfocadas na promoção de aprendizagens curriculares veiculadas à valorização e preservação do património, por parte de um grupo de alunos a frequentar a educação básica. A análise permite concluir o despertar para a necessidade de valorização dessa identidade cultural e sua preservação, bem como a aceitação e valorização da diferença. Regista-se a contribuição para o papel que a formação pedagógica de futuros professores poderá assumir, no que diz respeito ao (re)pensar as estratégias didáticas, no processo educativo escolarizante, quando os contextos societais são multiculturais.
