
Chlorodesmis Harvey & Bailey (1841: 373) Chlorodesmis hildebrandtii A. Gepp & E.S. Gepp (1911: 16, 137). TAXONOMIC STATUS:According to Pedroche et al. (2005) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) the name C. hildebrandtii is currently valid; however no one has recently reviewed the taxonomic status in the Gulf of California. RECORDS IN THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA: ND (González-González et al. 1996: 129), Isla San Francisco, Isla Espíritu Santo and Isla La Partida (Dawson 1959: 5, 14), Bahía de Banderas (Serviere-Zaragoza et al. 1993: table 2, Serviere-Zaragoza et al. 1998: 169), Punta Areas and Cabo Pulmo (Mateo-Cid et al. 2000: table 1), Southern Gulf (Norris 2010: 94). Unpublished data: Castillo-Álvarez (1990: 48, table 1). Chlorodesmis mexicana W.R. Taylor (1945: 64–67). TAXONOMIC STATUS: Pedroche et al. (2005) reported this species as a synonym of Chlorodesmis caespitosa J. Agardh, however according to Guiry & Guiry (2014) the name C. mexicana is currently taxonomicaly valid.
