(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) We present field observations on the consumption of an avocado (Persea americana), the heaviest fruit recorded as food item for the great fruit-eating bat (Artibeus lituratus) in an Andean locality (Venezuela). This observation represents the maximum weight record of a fruit carried by any species of the genus Artibeus.
