Distribution: Widely distributed in India. Abundantly found in the Purna and Gira rivers. Remarks: It is a popular aquarium barb, easily identified with a long slanting black blotch above the pectoral fin and another similar but with golden edges on caudal peduncle over the end of anal fin.
