Cuvier 1823; Ateles cayennensis (Fischer 1829); Ateles pentadactylus É. Geoffroy 1806; Ateles subpentadactylus Desmarest 1820; Ateles surinamensis (Fischer 1829). Distribution: Guianas and Brazil, north of the Amazon (east of Rio Negro). Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
