Abstract

Preprint This article investigates the introduction of combined arts with an emphasis on vanguard literature within the two Juvenile Penal Centers of Costa Rica based on the documentation of the work carried out during the workshops with those deprived of their freedom between the ages 13 and 29. During this initiative, participatory action research methodology was used transversally, recognizing and praising the value of ignorance, questioning preconceived certainties and unlearning the obvious. The purpose of this initiative is to breed an understanding of the importance and the scope of the processes of re-subjectivation that happen in these workshops, in contrast to the de-subjectivating operations that predominantly occur in the penal system.
