Megalops atlanticus Valenciennes 1847 (Fig. 6F). Tarpon, Atlantic Tarpon; Sábalo, Sábalo Real, Tarpón, Tarpón del Atlántico Vouchers: UCR 1091-001 (1) and 1092-001 (1). Distribution: Atlantic and Eastern Pacific oceans; from southern Nova Scotia, Canada, to southern Brazil in the western Atlantic, from southern France to Angola in the eastern Atlantic and from southern Guatemala to southern Colombia in the Eastern Pacific; entering estuaries and littoral lagoons and ascending river courses; (Nicaragua) Co, UI, WK, Pr, GM, KP, Es, BF, IM, To, Sa, SJ, RF and LN (Atlantic); 0–31 masl; Per, Dia, Amp. Occurrence and conservation status: Nat; VU A2bd (2019), population trend decreasing.
