Abstract

Racial identification in Brazil has its origin in the need to guarantee that the policy of racial quotas for blacks is directed entirely at this public. By studying this theme, it is noted that the use of documents previous to prove racial belonging is not enough. Therefore, it is necessary to present a body seen as black by others in order to have access to racial quotas. Based on this observation, how Information Science can contribute to discussions related to racial identification. The present article aims to understand, through the correlation of studies about the sociological body and the materiality of information, the info-documentary dimension of racial identification. It is the partial result of a research in progress and uses literature review and documentary research as methodological procedures. It presents as a result the theoretical-conceptual approximation of sociological studies about the body, racism and materiality in Information Science. It is concluded that the racialized body has informative potential and is inscribed in the materiality of information.
