Abstract

This article shows the preliminary results and research perspectives of two microregional studies developed in the Pyrennes from 2004, coordinated by the Institut Català d’Arqueologia Clàssica (Catalan Institute of Classic Archaeology). These studies try to analyze the mountain spaces as cultural areas in all their dimensions (environmental, social and human) from the landscape archaeology perspective. Research is organized in a diachronic and pluridisciplinar way and has the aimed to evaluate anthrop action and relationship between humans and environament during the time, by crossing the data acquired from different disciplines paleoecology, history and archaeology). The study area is concentrated in the superior forest stage and in the supraforest Pyrenees spaces, where the human activities that have modelled landscapes are farming and vegetal coal industry. The two areas we are already studing are the Madriu valley in Andorra and the mountain range of Cadí – valley of la Vansa i Tuixén in the district of Alt Urgell.
