Abstract

Introdução: O exercício físico compulsivo (EC) tem sido associado às perturbações do comportamento alimentar (PCA) como um comportamento usado para controlar o peso, sendo utilizado de forma inadequada e, por vezes, de maneira compulsiva, contribuindo para a patogénese e manutenção das PCA. Objetivos: Estudo 1: Validar a versão portuguesa do Compulsive Exercise Test (CET). Estudo 2: Caracterizar casos clínicos com PCA relativamente à prática de EC e variáveis como o autocriticismo e a imagem corporal. Método: Estudo 1: Procedeu-se a uma análise exploratória e confirmatória do CET com uma amostra comunitária (N = 429). Estudo 2: Utilizando o CET, a FSCRS e a BIS, elaborou-se a descrição de doze casos clínicos. Resultados: Estudo 1: O CET resultou numa estrutura de cinco fatores, demonstrando uma boa consistência interna. Estudo 2: Dos casos clínicos avaliados, seis revelaram a existência de EC. Destes, todos relataram querer livrar-se dos aspetos que não gostam em relação a si mesmos e, com execeção de um caso, todos referiram não gostar da sua aparência física. Discussão: O CET apresenta características psicométricas satisfatórias numa amostra portuguesa e pode ser utilizado em amostras comunitárias para avaliar a presença de EC.
