Abstract

[Excerto] Introdução: No Noroeste da Ibéria são conhecidos dois grandes estilos de arte rupestre posteriores ao Paleolitico. A arte esquemática pintada ou gravada e a arte atlântica. anteriormente conhecida por arte Galaico-Portuguesa ou por Grupo 1 da Arte do Noroeste (Baptista 1983/1984) (Fig. i). A arte esquemática distribui-se por quase toda a Península Ibérica. embora seja pouco expressiva no litoral do Noroeste, é frequente, nas áreas mais interiores e montanhosas. Segundo inúmeros autores ter-se-ia expandidoduranteo Neolítico Antigo (6°/5° milénios e persistido até ao 3° ou 2° milénios a.C.) (Sanches 1992: Santos. 2008: Figueiredo. 2014. entre outros). Na sequência de alguns autores que defendem a necessidade de rever este grupo artistico gravado (Jorge. 1986: Alves e Reis. 2009) têm surgido propostas. ainda que embrionárias, de o subdividir em fases distintas (Cardoso. 2015: Cardoso e Bettencourt, 2015: Bettencourt. 2027a: 2017b). Nesse contexto foi colocada a hipótese da existência de uma arte esquemática antiga e de uma arte esquemática tardia (Bettencourt, 2017a: 2o17b) sendo a primeira inserivel no Neolítico e no Calcolitico (entre os 5° e o 3° milénios a.C.). e a segunda. na Idade do Bronze persistindo até à Idade do Ferro (2° e I° milénios a.C.).
