Bullying e imagem corporal nos adolescentes

Abstract

O excesso de peso e o bullying têm em comum o facto de serem problemas atuais, principalmente no que diz respeito à adolescência. Este estudo investigou as diferenças entre dois grupos, adolescentes com peso normal vs adolescentes com excesso de peso/obesidade ao nível dos comportamentos de bullying, imagem corporal, sintomatologia alimentar e problemas emocionais e de comportamento. Foram inquiridos 356 adolescentes, 142 rapazes (39.9%) e 214 raparigas (60.1%), entre os 10 e os 15 anos de idade, com média de idades de 13.01 anos (DP=1.76 anos), 128 (36%) dos quais apresentaram excesso de peso/obesidade. Os resultados deste estudo mostram que os adolescentes com excesso de peso/obesidade apresentam maior insatisfação com a imagem corporal, níveis mais elevados de bullying, não só ao nível da vitimação, como também da observação e agressão, índices mais elevados de queixas somáticas e sentimentos de ansiedade/depressão e ainda níveis mais elevados de sintomatologia alimentar. A insatisfação com a imagem corporal, ansiedade/depressão e ser do sexo feminino têm impacto no aumento dos níveis de perturbação alimentar nos adolescentes com excesso de peso/obesidade.
