Abstract

Phrygia Bölgesi, Orta Anadolu'da en önemli ticaret yollarının geçtiği ve kavşak noktalarının bulunduğu bir konumdadır. Bölge halkı da çağlar boyunca bölgenin konumundan en iyi şekilde yararlanmış, Anadolu'nun çeşitli kentlerindeki limanlar sayesinde, ürettikleri malları Akdeniz Havzası'na, hatta Karadeniz'e ihraç etme imkânı bulabilmişlerdir. Bu ihracat, bölgede zaten yoğun olarak kullanılan eski ticaret yollarına yeni yolların eklenmesini ve ticari hareketliliğin artmasını sağlamıştır. Bölgenin önemli ihraç ürünlerinin başında Dokimeion ocaklarından çıkarılan mermer gelmektedir. Pantheon ve Halikarnassos Mausoleum'u gibi önemli yapılarda kullanılmış olması, ticari değerini, pazarlandığı alanın genişliğini ve yüzlerce yıl boyunca yapılarda ve heykeltıraşlık eserlerinde tercih edildiğini gösterir. Bölgenin diğer ticari malları da en az mermer kadar beğenilmiş ve ün kazanmıştır. Başta tekstil olmak üzere, maden eserler, içimi güzel şaraplar elde edilebilen üzümler gibi tarım ürünleri, Phrygia Bölgesi'nin ekonomisinde önemli paylara sahip olmuşlardır. Nakliyelerinin büyük bölümünün karayoluyla, bir kısmının da nehir yoluyla yapılmış olması, ürünlerin fiyatlarını yükseltmiş olsa da, her dönemde kolaylıkla pazarlanabilmişler ve özellikle zengin kesim tarafından lüks ürünler kategorisinde talep görmüşlerdir. Bu da bölgenin ekonomisinin güçlü olmasını sağlamıştır.

Phrygia Region has a location there the most important trade routes of Central Anatolia passing throughout and where the junctions of these roads are. The people of the Region have used the benefits of this location for ages, and exported their products to Mediterranean Basin and Black Sea Basin from several harbors of Anatolia. This exportation provided to construct new trade routes as the additions and extensions to the most used old routes and improved commercial activities. The leading exportation product of the region is the marble of Dokimeion quarries. Its usage at the important buildings such as Pantheon and Mausoleum of Halikarnassos shows the commercial importance, width of its marketing area and had been chosen by people for buildings and sculptural artifacts. Other commercial goods of the region had won approval and fame. Textile in the lead, metal artifacts, agricultural products such as grapes which are suitable to produce quality wines, had important lots within the economy of the Phrygia Region. Despite the transportation mostly by land and particularly by rivers which increasing the prices, they had been requested as luxury products by riches. This provided strength to the economy of the region
