Pitaya: propagação e crescimento de plantas

Abstract

Among the exotic fruitful species, pitaya (Hylocereus undatus) presents potential as an option for diversification of Brazilian fruit culture and incomes enhancement in land. This fruitful is little cultivated in Brazil and local information is need to inform potential farmers. In this way, the present work had as objective: i) to identify the co-existence of juvenile and adult stages and it’s effects on cutting propagation of pitaya; ii) to study anatomically the adventitious roots of pitaya cuttings; iii) to evaluate the development and nutritional status of pitaya as a function of light intensity and organic fertilization. In the first study, the position from which the cutting is taken had an quantitative effect on root formation of pitaya, juvenile cuttings presented 35% more cuttings with roots than adult cuttings, allowing it concludes that juvenile and adult stages co-exist in pitaya canopy. In the second study it was observed that the adventitious roots of pitaya cuttings initiate at the pericycle, there is no root formation from callus and there is no callus formation on pitaya cuttings. From the third study it infers that in pitaya cultivation a covering against light rays is need, where a shade degree of 50% or 75% can be used, the organic manure levels influenced significantly the concentrations of N, P, K and Na, the stem concentration of N, P, K, S, B, Zn and Na were enhanced with organic fertilizer level increasing and the 20 L/plant level can be adopted as quantitative for cave preparation for pitaya cultivation.
