Violencia escolar: conceptos y etiquetas verbales del fenómeno del acoso

Abstract

The Bullying phenomenon has been an object of scientific interest for approximately three decades. The studies developed during this time conclude, among other aspects, we don’t have reached a high agreement about the Spanish term to refer to this problem, as it happens in other cultures. In this research we have explored 80 students and 80 adults (teachers and parents) using a methodology designed to examine the relationship between typical bullying situations and the terms which children and adults use to refer to them. In this way, we try to define the concepts which the different agents involved in school community use to interpret bullying situations inside their schools, distinguishing between different types of violent behaviour (physical, verbal or relational). We also compare the differences between students and adults.
