Abstract

Bu çalışmada ilköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği Programında Osmanlı Tarihi ve Uygarlığı dersini alan öğrencilerin tarihsel roman okumanın derse katkısı hakkındaki görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında Devlet Ana romanı okutulmuş, 26 öğrencinin katıldığı çalışmada odak görüşmesi ve anket veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Ulaşılan sonuçlara göre romanı okuyan öğrenciler, Devlet Ana'yı okumanın derslerde öğrendiklerini pekiştirdiğini, yeni bilgiler öğrenmelerine katkı sağladığını ifade etmişlerdir. Romanın, günlük hayat ve insanlar arası ilişkiler bakımından dönemin koşulları hakkında okuyucuyu bilgilendirdiğini belirten öğrenciler, yazarın abdallar ve Orhan bey ile ilgili tasvirlerinin negatif olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Sonuç olarak çalışmaya katılan öğrenciler roman okumanın tarih dersleri için faydalı olacağı kanaatindedir

This study contains student's perceptions about the contribution of reading the novel of Devlet Ana to the lesson of Ottoman Empire History and Civilization. The study is a qualitative work and has a descriptive structure with its data collection tools as structured questionnaire and focus group interview. 26 students read the novel voluntarily and five of them being interviewed as focus group interview before and after reading. Also it is used a questionnaire which consists six open ended questions. As a result students state that reading the novel of Devlet Ana reinforced what they learned in the lesson of Ottoman Empire History and civilization. It contributes learning new information that associate with the subject. As a result, students who participated in the work think that reading novel would be useful for learning history
