15. yüzyıl Memluk sahası şairlerinden Rûhî`nin divânı: İnceleme-metin

Abstract

In this thesis, 103 poems in Diwan of Ruhi, the 15th century poet of the Mamluks, are transcribed into modern Turkish; historical information on the period is provided; the poet's life and his literary style are told; Diwanis examined with regard to form and content. The resources and the catalogs having been searched, it is seen that literary works in Turkish were produced in the Mamluk period; yet no diwan written in Turkish has been found. However, it has been found that Kayıtbay, the Mamluk Sultan of the period, and Melikü'n-Nasr, the heir-prince, also wrote poems in Turkish.Diwan of Ruhi, the subject being investigated in the thesis, was produced during the reign of Kayıtbay, the Mamluk Sultan, and was presented to him in 1482. Diwan, not mentioned in any of the resources that have been searched, is on display in the British Museum with Or: 4128. Diwan is predominated by mystical poetry.Diwan of Ruhi enables us to observe closely the mentality in the period, as well as the characteristics of the language then used.
