Özel eğitimde dijital destek: yardımcı teknolojiler

Abstract

Starting from the importance of integration /inclusion and universal design, preparation of an environment that facilitates information access for all individuals, especially for individuals with special needs, is becoming more and more important in recent years. With the introduction of technology into educational environments, teaching processes in classroom environments have started to be carried out with technology support. Technology-supported learning environments provide a learning experience that enhances the interest and motivation of learners based on their characteristics. In today's world, technologysupported learning environments for individuals with special needs can be created in teaching a variety of different skills, behaviors and concepts. Assistive technology is one of the technologies that individuals with special needs need to prepare for independent living. According to the disability types of individuals with special needs, assistive technologies support these individuals’ visual, audio, reading, writing, social and communication skills and facilitate independent living skills. This allows individuals to learn targeted information more easily, permanently and quickly. In this regard, this study explains assistive technologies in special education and provides suggestions about the use of assistive technologies in special education.

Kaynaştırma/bütünleştirme ve evrensel tasarımın öneminden yola çıkarak başta özel gereksinimi olan bireyler olmak üzere tüm bireylerin bilgiye ulaşımını kolaylaştıran bir ortam hazırlama son zamanlarda giderek önem kazanmaktadır. Teknolojinin eğitim ortamlarına girmesi ile birlikte sınıf ortamlarında yürütülen öğretim süreçleri teknoloji destekli yürütülmeye başlanmıştır. Teknoloji destekli eğitim ortamları öğrenenlerin özellikleri doğrultusunda ilgi ve motivasyon arttırıcı bir öğrenme deneyimi sağlamaktadır. Günümüz dünyasında özel gereksinimi olan bireylere yönelik pek çok farklı beceri, davranış ve kavram öğretiminde teknoloji destekli öğrenme ortamları oluşturulabilir. Özel gereksinimi olan bireyleri, bağımsız yaşama hazırlamada gerekli olan teknolojilerden biri de yardımcı teknolojilerdir. Yardımcı teknolojiler özel gereksinimi olan bireylerin yetersizlik türüne göre görme, işitme, okuma, yazma, sosyal ve iletişim becerilerini desteklemekte ve bağımsız yaşam becerilerini kolaylaştırmaktadır. Bu durum bireylerin hedeflenen bilgileri daha kolay, kalıcı ve hızlı bir şekilde öğrenmelerine olanak tanımaktadır. Bu bağlamda bu çalışma; özel eğitimde yardımcı teknolojilerin kullanımı konusunda bilgi vermekte ve yardımcı teknolojilerin kullanımına yönelik öneriler sunmaktadır.
