Abstract

In the last decades, as a result of advances in the study of prejudice, it was necessary to develop assesments tools that allow to account not only for the traditional, hostile and direct forms of expression of prejudice, but also for less obvious forms of expression and better adapted to the modern values of tolerance and nondiscrimination promoted by democratic systems. The first studies on subtle and blatant prejudice in he Latin American context have focused mainly on ethnic minority groups such as indigenous peoples and also on vulnerable social groups such as immigrants from bordering countries. In the Argentine context no studies have been found that analyze the prejudice towards immigrants from Bolivia and indigenous communities. In addition, it was identified that there are certain controversies as to the construct validity of the subtle and manifest prejudice scale, particularly as regards the distinction between the two dimensions. Finally, this work emphasizes that the subtle forms of prejudice are not harmless, but contribute strongly to the emergence of blatant forms
