Abstract

Corporate social responsibility is a tool for companies to give back to the community beyond the creation of jobs and the payment of taxes. In Costa Rica the corporate social accountability efforts have taken a grown in the past years, as a response the concerns of entrepreneurs of performing an activity of social improvement. Despite the companies are implementing social accountability activities, these are not always aligned with the strategic objectives of the corporations, neither they involve all actors that interact in the core business of the company, such as customers and suppliers. The aim of this article is to analyze the social responsibility programs of the Costa Rican companies and determinate if there is an involvement of suppliers that is leading to the development of the vendors it selves.
