Autonomía y vinculación social universitaria: un lazo frágil

Abstract

The main issue addressed in this essay is to reflect on why, if outreach is the link that materializes the relationship between the university and society, it does not have a primary role alongside teaching and research as substantive areas of its work; on the contrary, it has been postponed in terms of academic, financial and human resource availability. This situation may affect, in time, the legitimacy and credibility of the university by the social construct, as the university looks to the side and has allowed itself to be carried away by the trends of globalization, responding more to a model that does not represent it, in terms of global demands. It is possible to retake its course only by being clear about what its challenges are. The purpose of this reflection is to promote academic discussion on the strengthening of the university-society link, raising extension to the level of other substantive areas, both internally and externally.
