Abstract

The present work focuses on the “audiovisual production workshops with limited resources” held between 2014 and 2017 in the Costa Rican Atlantic area, more specifically in the Siquirres, Pococí, Matina and Guácimo areas in the province of Limón. These workshops were carried out in coordination with the office of the Culture Directorate of Limón (Ministry of Culture and Youth) and the community counterparts. These initiatives are intended to facilitate the processes for the use of low-cost tools that are affordable for the majority of the population (for example: cell phones), for the production of audiovisual products. These processes are carried out under the precepts of community cinema, popular education, popular and participatory communication, interculturality, and decolonial theories, mainly understanding the decolonization of communication as a collective action.
