PODER Y HEGEMONIA EN LA TRANSICIÓN A LOS ESTADOS NACIONALES

Abstract

La historiografía costarricense ha experimentado cambios importantes en los últimos años. Se ha comenzado a abordar temáticas no tratadas por la historiografía tradicional que, a la vez, ofrecen enfoques novedosos sobre áreas que ya se consideraban «agotadas». La casi exclusiva atención puesta por esa corriente historiográfica, en individuos «sobresalientes» y en temas de carácter político, dejó disponible un vasto campo de análisis para las nuevas generaciones de historiadores. La cuantificación aplicada a diferentes niveles e importantes aportes desde el punto de vista teórico, técnico y metodológico podrían sintetizar esos progresos. No obstante, los avances que se han producido no han corrido paralelos en las áreas sectoriales básicas en que se desenvuelve el análisis histórico: lo económico, lo social y lo político'. Resultados destacables en ese sentido po48 dríamos encontrarlos en distintos trabajos efectuados en historia demográfica, historia económica e historia social. No podríamos decir lo mismo del caso de la historia política, que quedó rezagada en relación con las otras, al igual que . sucedió en la mayor parte de América Latina. Los ejemplos que escaparon a esa corriente dominante son escasos en cuanto a Costa Rica se refiere.
