Hace algunos años Hobsbawm escribió que "bandoleros y salteadores de caminos preocupaban a la policía, pero también deberían preocupar al historiador. Porque en cierto sentido, el bandolerismo es una forma más bien primitiva de protesta social organizada, acaso la más primitiva que conocemos" (Hobsbawm, 1974:27). Desde ese momento la propuesta más que rechazos engendró muchas adhesiones que todavía recientemente siguen llegando, las cuales se pueden agrupar en dos direcciones; aquellas que siguen al pie de la letra el modelo, y otras que escogen un camino menos sencillo. Tanto de uno u otro grupo en sus conclusiones, se perciben las contribuciones del diseño. En el caso latinoamericano con el resumen de un par de trabajos, podemos sacar varias enseñanzas del significado de la regla creada por el historiador anglosajón

From that moment on, the proposal more than rejection engendered many adhesions that still recently follow arriving, which can be grouped in two directions; those that follow to the letter the model, and others who choose a less simple path.
