Perfil psicológico del corredor popular : Estudio transversal

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Introduction: In recent decades has increased the number of participants in popular endurance races, especially, veteran class athletes who organize their lives to prepare for and participate in marathons. There are five fundamental psychological variables, so, the most important is the motivation and close to it, self-confidence, team cohesion, anxiety and attention. Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the psychological profile of the popular runner in relation to these variables, besides personal, training and injury, among others, and why they started running and continue. Methods: We develop an ad hoc questionnaire which has five large blocks (personal data, training data, multidisciplinary team, injuries and confrontation and psychological variables). It was applied to a total of 202 amateur runners both men and women with an average age of 33 years. Results: After analyzing the data by sex, it was found that the demographic profile of the runner is a person around 33 years old, college educated, active employment and without partner. They train four days a week and they run about 51 kilometers weekly. It stands out the high prevalence of injuries in this population and one of the factors predisposing to injury is the number of weekly training sessions and the kilometers. In addition, the results conducted indicate that the main reason for participating in endurance races popular is the satisfaction that it comes and reasons related to the improvement and maintenance of health. Also, the influence of the figure of the physiotherapist is very important to advice to athletes in rehabilitation and injuries prevention. Among the most common injuries, we can find muscular problems, such as overload and contractures. Conclusions: Due to the large sample obtained and thorough analysis of the data, we can determine the importance of physical and mental maintenance for these people. So, like the desire to improve their own objectives and goals. Young and active people, who have the running as a lifestyle, entertainment and growth. Moreover, the importance of the physiotherapist in this area is very clear. Finally, after analyzing the data by sex, it was found that most of the data coincides with previous research results.
