Abstract

The article rescues previous studies developed by nationals and foreigners investigators about the petroglyphs founded in Costa Rica, forms inscribed in stone and elaborated by different Indians groups; the first ones were created more than 2000 years ago. The glyphic reading is made from semiotics criteria (those occurs in the rock), historical, geographical, ethnographical, artistic, among others. The main point is recognize this signs as social constructions, from that, as the reader is not a subject of those cultures, the immersion must be transmitted on the part of the following of distinct cultural productions.
