La tensión entre uniformidad y diversidad en la Iglesia católica. Iglesia universal e Iglesias locales: un análisis desde la liturgia

Abstract

Cuando dirigimos la mirada a la larga historia de la Iglesia se percibe en ella con claridad la existencia de una tendencia hacia la centralización romana, no exenta de resistencias en algunos tiempos y lugares, como consecuencia de la conciencia de universalidad del Primado pontificio. La evolución de la liturgia nos permite seguir con facilidad este proceso: desde la multiplicidad de familias litúrgicas del primer milenio hasta la uniformidad conseguida con la imposición en todas partes del rito romano. Ha sido la jerarquía de la Iglesia la que siempre ha regulado el ejercicio del culto cristiano, y así esta función ha pasado de las manos de los obispos, los sínodos y concilios de las iglesias locales, a las del Papa y las Congregaciones romanas. Sin embargo, como consecuencia del Concilio Vaticano II, en los últimos tiempos se percibe un cambio que parece llevar de la uniformidad a la pluralidad. Es evidente, de nuevo, en la liturgia, donde hemos pasado del latín a las lenguas vernáculas y cada vez más notorio en el calendario y las fiestas de los santos.
