Muerte y religión están muy conectadas, como de muestran las prácticas funerarias de las grandes religiones: Judaísmo, Cristianismo, Islam y Budismo. Aquí se estudia el Derecho específico sobre el factor religioso y la legislación española en relación con tales prácticas mortuorias. Asimismo, se examinan las iniciativas del Poder público que facilitan el acompañamiento religioso al final de la vida. Las medidas contra la COVID-19 y el estado de alarma decretado han incidido en cómo atender a enfermos y difuntos, con repercusión sobre el ejercicio de la libertad religiosa. Se ofrece una reflexión a propósito de la preparación religiosa a la muerte.
Death and religion are closely connected, as shown by the burial practices of the great religions: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism. Here we study the specific law on the religious factor and Spanish legislation in relation to such mortuary practices. Likewise, the initiatives of the Public Power that facilitate religious accompaniment at the end of life are examined. The measures against COVID-19 and the state of alarm decreed have affected how to care for the sick and deceased, with repercussions on the exercise of religious freedom. A reflection is offer regarding the religious preparation, in the face of death.
