Con el presente artículo perseguimos un doble objetivo. Por una parte analizar la relación entre el color de determinadas indumentarias, con especial énfasis en el azul, y los estados emocionales de los personajes de las Íslendingasögur, especialmente en lo referido a la predisposición a la violencia. Por otra parte, discutiremos en qué medida la conexión entre ambos tiene su origen en antiguas tradiciones sobre dichos personajes o si por el contrario ha de buscarse en convenciones literarias que llegaron al Norte de Europa de la mano de la Iglesia. Asimismo veremos cuál es la función de su inclusión en diferentes contextos literarios, e incluso legales, y cómo ello podría apuntar a la existencia de diferentes comunidades textuales y emocionales en la Islandia y Noruega de los siglos XIII-XV

The aim of this article is twofold. Firstly, it analyses the association between the colour of certain garments as described in the Íslendingasögur and the emotional states of the characters who wear them, with particular emphasis on the relationship between wearing blue and violent actions. It also examines the extent to which this connection has its origins in old traditions about the characters or whether, on the contrary, they are due to literary conventions which came to Northern Europe by way of the church. We shall also look at the function of this phenomenon and its inclusion in different literary contexts, including legal ones, and how this suggests the existence of different textual and emotional communities in Iceland and Norway between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries.
