El desarrollo histórico del estudio del comportamiento animal en España: desde el Renacimiento hasta nuestros días

Abstract

En los últimos años se ha producido en España un considerable incremento en el interés por el estudio del comportamiento animal. Al menos así parece indicarlo el elevado grado de Institucionalización que comienza a alcanzar su estudio en nuestro país. Dicho incremento no ha surgido de novo. Por el contrario, existe una larga tradición todavía mal conocida que se remonta hasta las primeras manifestaciones de la ciencia europea moderna durante los siglos XVI Y XVII. Dentro de nuestro interés por recuperar la historia y el pasado de los estudios de comportamiento animal en España, en el presente articulo ofrecemos una aproximaci6n a su conocimiento a través de las aportaciones realizadas por los autores españoles desde el Renacimiento hasta nuestros días. La información aquí contenida abarca los siguientes perio­dos: desde el Renacimiento hasta la Ilustración (siglos XVI a XVIII), desde la Restauraci6n hasta la Guerra Civil española (siglo XIX y primer tercio del siglo XX) y desde 1940 hasta nuestros días.
