Abstract

Karl Friedrich Schinkel es uno de los más importantes arquitectos del Clasicismo alemán. El trabajo que hoy presento forma parte del estudio, más amplio, que le he dedicado. En la biografía de Schinkel hay que mencionar un extenso repertorio de nombres de escritores, pintores y escultores, tanto alemanes como de otros Países, que influyeron en su personalidad artística. Schinkel no sólo fue arquitecto sino pintor y decorador de obras de teatro, como “La flauta mágica” de Mozart. Viajó por distintos países europeos, pero es Italia, la principal fuente de inspiración de muchas de sus obras. Schinkel es conocido como el autor de muchos edificios encargados por los reyes de Prusia. El área de su trabajo abarca no sólo Alemania –con edificios singulares en Berlín y Potsdam– sino Polonia y Rusia. A su fallecimiento el Estado Prusiano adquirió sus planos, dibujos, bocetos y otros trabajos de Arquitectura. La actual edición –no completada aún– abarca ya veintidós volúmenes.
