A lo largo de los siglos XVI y XVII los servicios de espías y confidentes constituyeron una herramienta muy valiosa para la diplomacia y la acción de gobierno de numerosas cancillerías europeas. Esta contribución pretende analizar el impacto económico que suponía su financiación y reconstruir el perfil, vicisitudes y mentalidad de las personas que se integraron en las redes de espionaje de la Monarquía Hispánica durante la primera mitad del siglo XVII.
