The study of the epigraphy of Salacia and Tróia has led me to identify several examples of epigraphs that may be related to the Bocchi; the fruitless search for the inscription dedicated to one of these Bocchi by the colonia Scallabitana in Quinta da Sempre‑Noiva (Arraiolos), where it was seen by Fernando Bandeira Ferreira; the happy finding, in the excavations by A. Dias Diogo in Lisbon, of a stela dedicated, most probably by the municipality of the town of Olisipo, to Lucius Cornelius Bocchus and the proposed interpretation of an epigraph from Emerita Augusta suggest the existence of a Cornelius Bocchus directly related with provincial power, which has led me to reflect on their apparent ubiquitousness. The doubts on the identification of these figures (or of this figure) once more pose questions raised at the time by Bandeira Ferreira in the sequence noted by Hübner. And, in this sense, a brief critical balance is drawn of the contributions offered by the researchers.
