Musicoterapia na PHDA

Musicoterapia na PHDA

Abstract

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by a persistent pattern of symptoms of inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity, commonly associated with emotional dysregulation symptoms. Underlying this disorder are neurobiological alterations in various neuronal networks, brain areas, and signaling pathways, with monoaminergic pathways being the most studied. ADHD benefits from a multimodal treatment approach encompassing pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures. Pharmacological therapy includes stimulant medications, such as amphetamines and methylphenidate, and non-stimulant options, such as atomoxetine. Non-pharmacological therapy includes behavioral therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and other interventions like music therapy. Music therapy, as a discipline, is relatively recent and corresponds to the clinical application of music, making use of its therapeutic properties. Music has the ability to induce changes in brain areas altered in ADHD, suggesting its potential application in the treatment of this disorder. Despite their limitations, the articles included in this review demonstrate the positive impact of various forms of music therapy on ADHD symptoms, supporting the hypothesis of its potential use for therapeutic purposes.
