Literatura surda : analisando as mãos literárias do I Sarau Arte de Sinalizar

Abstract

This paper discusses deaf literary production in different genres based on material from the cultural event “Sarau Arte de Sinalizar: narrativa, humor e poesia”, a poetry evening with presentations in the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) by Brazilian deaf participants on the themes of narrative, humor and poetry. The event in question, which took place on April 24, 2017 in the city of Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, is part of an extension project of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFGRS), Brazil. In every edition of the event, all the presentations are video recorded, thus compiling a database, which then allowed us to select three presentations within the genres prose and poetry, connecting to the history of Brazilian deaf literature. The results of the analysis show that, by every sign language presentation, concepts of deaf literature come into view and this way, through deaf subjects and their telling of experiences, the project pushes forward this tradition and facilitates the sharing and production of deaf literature and deaf studies.
