Article 28 of CRC stated that states parties recognize the right of the child education, and with a viewto achieving this right progressively and on the basis of equal opportunity. This statement implies that states parties shall make primary education compulsory and available free to all, and states parties shall encourage the development of different forms of secondary education. In fact, many children could not participate or should drop out from their basic education because their parents are so poor so that they have to work in order to support their family lives. This survey was intended to give a descriptive overview of the educational status and level, as well as forms of alternative education participated by children who are categorized as children in needs of specialprotection (CNSP). In addition, this survey was intended to identify any individuals or/and institutions that support children in paying their schooltuition. This survey involved 165 children below 18 years of age who were assisted by 7 NGOs in Jakarta, Bogor, and Surabaya that associated with PLAN International. keywords: alternative education for diasadvantage child, children in needs of special protection, convention on the rights of the children, non-formal education
