Abstract

La nómina de actrices del cine sonoro producido hasta el comienzo de la Guerra Civil se configuró con la adición de figuras de la propia cinematografía, provenientes del teatro y del medio musical. Un caso relevante de esta tercera opción lo constituye la bailaora Carmen Amaya, quien comenzó a participar en el cine con pequeñas intervenciones hasta llegar a protagonizar la película María de la O (Francisco Elías, 1939). Dichas intervenciones presentan una serie de características que distinguen a la bailaora del resto del star system de la época.
