Tatarka is a builder and at the same time a destroyer of myths. The mythization of certain stages of life − childhood, personal "primes" in sociohistorical processes (events of 1968), and extraordinary experience (loss of father in WWI and proximity of his own death in WWII) − was essentially about explaining his own position (creation of an "automyth") or "questions and contradictions of value on a self-contained semantic and aesthetic level". The myth and reality of the authorial archai, the building and destroying of the myth of one's own personality as well as that of the socialist regime.
Tatarka je staviteľ a súčasne narušiteľ mýtov. Mýtizácia istých životných etáp, detstva, osobných "vrcholov" v dejinných spoločenských procesoch (udalosti roku 1968) a mimoriadnych skúseností (strata otca v prvej svetovej vojne a blízkosť vlastnej smrti v druhej) sa týkali v podstate výkladu vlastného postoja (vytváranie "automýtu") alebo "hodnotových otázok a protikladov na svojbytnej sémantickej a estetickej úrovni". Mýtus a realita autorského archai, stavanie a rúcanie mýtu vlastnej osoby, ako aj mýtu socialistického systému.
